Advent Season in St. Ives
As Christmas approaches we want to make the most of the natural opportunities that this season bringsĀ to invite people to hear the gospel:
I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people. Today in the town of David a Saviour has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord. (Luke 2:10).
Therefore, please find below the various activities that are taking place in the next month, and please do take a moment to pray that the Lord would be drawing people to himself this Christmas.
Super Saturday
On Saturday 2nd December, there will be a whole host of events happening in the town; fairs, treasure hunts, guided walks, food trails, Father Christmas arriving by boat, Christmas Bazaars and lantern parades.
We will making the most of this opportunity by giving away free hot chocolates and books, as well as giving out invitations to our Christmas services.
Carol & Christingle Service
Last year we ran an evangelistic ‘Carol & Christingle’ service which was well attended by visitors and so we are doing the same this year. The format seems to be accessible to all ages, and is well received. Last year the service was also reported on in the local paper.
O come let us adore Him
We are hoping to make at least 500 invitations to our Christmas services this year through inviting family, friends, neighbours, locals, and anyone else we can find. Please see below.
Please pray
Please join with us in praying that the Lord would use these initiatives for people to come and hear and respond to the gospel;
– Please pray for a fruitful ‘Super Saturday’
– Please pray especially for our ‘Carols and Christingle’ service.
– Please pray for a warm welcome, a clear and accessible presentation of the gospel, and a good atmosphere at all of our Christmas events.
Thank you.
May we take this opportunity to wish you all a Christ-centered and happy Christmas.
Tim & the members of Zion.
